Students at the Corning School learn
in well-equipped labs with access to a large array of modern
scientific equipment and field gear. General purpose labs in
several campus buildings,
including those for equipped for chemistry, accommodate up to sixteen students per lab
section. Special facilities for microscopy, chemistry,
geology, ecology, aquaria, and student projects are used by faculty
and students alike, for research and for classes.
The
Corning School's waterfront location and Maine Maritime's fleet of
vessels are extraordinary. Labs often meet at sea or in the
field. Marine Science and Marine Biology programs typically
use the R/V Friendship, a Maine Maritime research vessel. Students can deploy a wide variety of gear from the Friendship and
use the data and samples they collect in classes.
