SECONDARY SCIENCE TEACHING OPTION

The broad science background and strong communication skills of Corning School students make them ideal candidates for secondary science teacher training programs. In conjunction with the Maine Department of Education, a collaborative agreement between Maine Maritime and the University of Maine provides Marine Science and Marine Biology majors an inside track to teaching certification.

The Secondary Science Teaching Option helps answer the urgent need for more science teachers at the regional and national level. The current shortage of teachers, rapid growth in K-12 enrollment, and projected retirements of teachers in the next decade all point to strong job prospects for new teachers well into the future.
